BRIEANNA CHILLIOUS FOR TUCSON UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT  GOVERNING BOARD

Brieanna Chillious is deeply invested and committed to the betterment of children's lives today and in the future by promoting literacy in both her public and private life. Brie holds a Master's degree in Library Science and is currently a Pima County Children's Librarian. Previously, she was a TUSD School Librarian Assistant at C.E. Rose K-8 where she prioritized access to literature and library programming for all of her students and teaching colleagues. Brie understands the issues that affect children's literacy and she knows that underfunded and understaffed school libraries are a disservice to both teachers and students. As a governing board member, Brie Chillious is determined to help students become strong readers and successful students by reinvesting in TUSD libraries and promoting literacy strategies that work. A vote for Brie Chillious is a vote for libraries and literacy.

BRIE'S PRIORITIES FOR TUCSON UNIFIED

TUSD STAFF SHOULD BE RESPECTED AND SUPPORTED

Employees should be protected against retaliation when filing complaints and should be provided with the necessary tools to get their job done. TUSD staff should also receive salary and wage increases with the cost of living and when there are minimum wage adjustments, veteran employees should have their wages matched.

IMPROVE LITERACY BY REINVESTING IN TUSD LIBRARIES

Student literacy rates in TUSD dropped when the district defunded their library programs. TUSD must reinvest in their libraries and staff them with certified librarians and media specialists. Up-to-date libraries and knowledgeable staff help teacher's supplement their curriculum and are a necessary resource for students in every grade level.
